You may be asking yourself…  Why do we require competent corporate advice, competent fire safety advice, competent construction safety advice, and/or training support?  Well, as an employer, you must, by law, “appoint one or more competent persons to assist” with health and safety (H&S).  (Regulation 7 of the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations)

However, that’s not the only reason to get competent advice.  Businesses do not intend to injure people, so getting H&S management right will help to protect your employees, protect others (e.g. members of the public) and also makes good business sense.  Making people ill at work, injuring or even killing them, can be costly – not just in terms of business losses, but reputation damage too.
